They will look to get back on track and maintain their unbeaten run in the Champions League on Tuesday. When they travel to Sporting Ligue 1 side Ruben Amorim, who is set to take charge of Manchester United.
“I know our standards but we have only lost one game. Maybe we will lose another (next three) in the Premier League against Brighton, Spurs and Liverpool.” Guardiola said.
“We are only two points behind Liverpool, who are a top team. We have started well in the Champions League. But I know many people think we will win 38 league games and win the treble every season because that is our standard.”
Manchester City have been dealt with a number of injuries. Including the loss of Rodri Hernandez for the season after the Ballon d’Or winner tore his anterior cruciate ligament in September.
Guardiola says his side have a problem after further injuries in the midweek defeat to Spurs. And they were without key men John Stones, Ruben Dias and Kevin De Bruyne at the weekend.
“The reason it’s difficult is because we have a lot of players missing. Which can happen in some seasons,”
“To win the treble, everything has to be on the same page with injuries. But this time it’s impossible.”
“The team is very strong and everything is getting more difficult and we have to accept that. That’s the challenge.”
